Melrose Ave - May 31st
After the first night of protests escalated to rioting and looting there was a significant amount of damage along Melrose Avenue.
Stores had been destroyed and a few even set ablaze. Droves of locals had arrived on the scene in the early hours of the morning bringing brooms and trash bags with them to help clean up some of the destruction. Others were handing out waters and even donuts.
Police and firefighters continued to maintain peace and keep the fires subdued. It was an amazing sense of community which was a stark contrast to what had been occurring just hours before.
